Analytics consolidation is becoming more common in today’s technology landscape, where IT and shared data services groups are mandated by senior management to converge on licensing a single data tool across the enterprise for ‘analytics.’
While consolidation makes sense from the perspective of accounting or procurement looking to reduce overall spending on software, it often makes less sense when you consider what your true business need is, the data you need to access and analyze, and the differences in capabilities between your various data tools, such as analytics vs. data visualization.
